Terry Barton, Head CoachCoach Terry Barton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Sam Houston State University in 1985. His first teaching/coaching position was in Madisonville, Texas where he coached football, basketball, and track for two years. In 1988, he attended Oklahoma State University receiving a Master of Science in Sports Administration. While attending OSU he also served as a graduate assistant in the basketball program. He was a varsity assistant at Liberal High School in Liberal, Kansas for five years before moving back to Texas. Before coming to Harlan, he was the head girls’ basketball coach at Coolidge High School, Medina Valley High School, and Reagan High School. He was at Reagan for eleven years where his record was 234-77. They won four straight district championships, went to the regional quarterfinals three times, and reached the state tournament in 2012. Coach Barton has been teaching for 30 years and has an overall coaching record of 422-237.
He is married to Jill Barton, a teacher at Communications Arts High School, and has two children, Kristopher and Kathleen. |
kylie Nabors, asst coachCoach Kylie Nabors is a native of San Antonio and attended East Central High School, where she played on two state semi-finalists basketball teams and was named the San Antonio Player of the Year her senior year. She then went on to play at the University of the Incarnate Word and Angelo State University, earning all-conference honors at both schools before graduating from Angelo State with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 2002. She began her teaching and coaching career in the East Central I.S.D., working as an assistant volleyball, basketball, and track coach before serving as the head basketball coach for 4 years. She has also coached at Judson High School, and most recently, Brennan High School, where she was an assistant coach on the 2013-2014 state semi-finalist team. Coach Nabors has been in education for 15 years.

DONALD STREIT, ASST COACH
Coach Donald Streit is entering his first year at Harlan High School and entering his 30th year of teaching and coaching. Coach Streit began his career as an English teacher and coach in 1988 at Axtell High School in northeast Kansas. At Axtell, Coach Streit started out as a boy JV coach, and later became the girls’ heach coach. In 1995 Coach Streit moved to Lakin High School in southwest Kansas and coached football, freshmen boys basketball, and softball. In 2005 Streit took a job teaching and coaching at Wheatley Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. Coach Streit moved across town to Holmes High School in 2008, where he taught and coached football and freshman basketball for 10 years.
Coach Streit has been married to San Antonio native Alma Lopez Streit for 27 years. He has two children, Quentin and Arminda, and three grandchildren, Jasper, Edward, and Donnie. |
